Top 15 Songs OF 2020 I Was 2020 a good year for music ?

Hi everyone ! My name is Tommy, and welcome to my blog.

2020 is about to end and today I’ll share with you, my Top 15 list of Songs that stick with me this year.

Overall I can say this year was amazing for Pop. The 80’s inspired songs were the highlights of this year but the trap music never missed from the charts. It was an amazing year for collaborations etc.

Now dive into the Highlights of this amazing year:

15. Alice - Lady Gaga (album:Chromatica)

Alice is a pretty solid track. Is one of my favorites from Chromatica and is a highlight in Gaga’s discography.

The upbeat production sounds like 90's house music, is very energetic and powerful, the beat drops are amazing.

The lyrics are there too with some raspy vocals. It is a really  good club banger.

14. Midnight Sky - Miley Cyrus (album:Plastic Hearts)

Miley Cyrus released her best album to date in November, and it contains this masterpiece.

The song is special because it has a true 70’s production, like it really sounds like a song from that time. The production is top notch.  And Her voice sounds like a rockstar, with a little rasp on her vocals.

13. Hot Girl Bummer - Blackbear (album: everything means nothing)

This is blackbear’s best song from his entire discography.

The production is amazing, is not a cheap trap beat or something, it goes really hard, it feels like a pretty deep Trap beat, which sounds and feels amazing!

The lyrics are funny and kinda sad at the same time!

He’s a very good rapper and this song proves that.

12. Cardigan - Taylor Swift (album:Folklore)

This song has some of the best lyrics of the year. Taylor Swift wrote some magic on her July album ``Folklore``. This song feels like a highlight of the album. The instrumentals are very minimalistic, in that way you can focus on the lyrics.

This song proves the fact that Taylor Swift is  one of the best lyricists of our generation.

11. Boss Bitch - Doja Cat (album:Birds of Prey)

This song sounds like a song from the early 2010’s , it sounds like a club banger to be more precise.

Is nasty, fun and energetic. It gives you that Bad B*tch energy when you needed the most (in quarantine).

10. Stupid Love - Lady Gaga (album:Chromatica)

When I first listened to this song, I never liked it. But it grew on me a lot.

The production reminds me of ‘’Do What U Want’’ the deleted song from Artpop.

Despite that, it has an energetic production and some powerful quirky lyrics. Some people describe it as a LGBT anthem.

9. Kings & Queens - Ava Max (album:Heaven & Hell)

This is one of Ava’s best songs. Is very powerful, the intro is sent from heaven, it has a point at the end of the song when it loses me for a second but that doesn't really matter. I like the electric guitar from the bridge.

The song is produced by Cirkut (known for Confession on the dancefloor by Madonna) and RedOne (known for his numeros collaborations with Lady Gaga ).

8. WAP - Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion

This is a momentum in pop culture for me. It broke some records, it had that nasty tik tok trend and deserves to be on this list.

The lyrics are so hot, I mean like if you’ll try to do a clean version  for this you’ll put only the instrumental.

Megan’s flow on this is nasty, and the production is very minimalistic with that man's voice who says ‘’ there’s some holes in this house’’.

7. Levitating - Dua Lipa (album: Future Nostalgia)

This song is so catchy, and is one of my favorites from Dua Lipa. This is about feeling good. The production is super cosmic, with it’s 90’s influences. Such a masterpiece.

It also has a DaBaby Remix which is pretty sick.

6. Say So - Doja Cat (album: Hot Pink)

I have a lot of memories with this song.

Is so catchy and smooth, is chill, is a feelin’ myself song, I love the second  verse the most, it screams Bad B*itch. The Nicki Minaj remix is iconic.

5. Physical - Dua Lipa (album: Future Nostalgia)

Basically Dua brings the 80’s to another level, with this song. The lyrics are pretty nasty, and the music video is a masterpiece. I love this song from every point of view. Is a feeling good song in this sober time.

4. POV - Ariana Grande (album:Positions)

POV aka - point of view, is the best song from Ariana’s new album. The melody is so sweet.

The background vocals are something that I never heard before from Ariana, it feels very heavenish. Her voice  is so smooth , the lyrics are top notch. Pov is about wanting to see you from a perfect point of view. The vocals are sended from heaven.

3. Savage Remix - Megan Thee Stallion, Beyonce

This is the best trap song from the year, and the best remix of the year, Beyonce gives to  this song a more R&B vibe.

The lyrics are screaming bad bi*ch from a mile. It really hits hard. Megan’s flow is nasty and sassy. I love it.

2. Don’t Start Now - Dua Lipa (album:Future Nostalgia)

This is the song that started the disco trend and the song that stuck with me through the entire year.

This a break up anthem, with an energetic  production , and those disco influences that transform it into a 2020 hit.

Is a perfect combination between past and present.

1. Rain On Me  - Lady Gaga (album:Chromatica)

This is literally song  of the year. The perfect duo, my favorite female collaboration of all time.

This song is about dancing through your insecurities. Listening to this song over and over again you realise how much we need Ariana on this track, her delivery is  so smooth , Gaga hits a little bit harder.

The production is inspired from 90’s house, such a beautiful mix.

I think this song describes 2020 really well, because it is about staying happy when the pain is raining over you.

I think this year was a good year for Pop Music, we have a lot of collaborations, a lot of broken records etc.

See you next sunday, when I’ll talk about my favorite albums released in 2020.
